Our Vision

Our Purpose

Antwerp British School vzw provides an international education in the English language emphasising academic achievement in a caring, structured and purposeful environment. We connect students to the global community, encourage each individual to reach her or his full potential and set students on the pathway to an English medium university education.

Learning

We will continue to offer a blend of traditional learning and more interactive and flexible approaches whilst retaining high academic standards and a sense of fun. Our students will develop international understanding and links to the broader community.

Our Staff

We will continue to retain, recruit and develop highly effective staff who support the school’s purpose and approach. All staff will share responsibility for ongoing professional development.

Community Relations

We will ensure that ABS stays a personal and friendly school. All members of the school community will have the opportunity to contribute to the life and direction of the school. Staff will continue to work closely with students and parents. We will substantially build the school’s profile locally and internationally.

Facilities & Resources

Classrooms will be continuously improved to create more flexible learning environments, allowing for a variety of learning activities. We ensure the school is clean, bright, organized and child friendly with an attractive and consistent look inside and out.

Governance & Administration

We will ensure that the constitution, roles and composition of the Board, Advisory Council and Parent Teacher Association establishes a solid foundation for the school’s continuity. Effective administration will continue to ensure efficient communication, school operation, safety and security as well as continually reducing bureaucracy.

Our Values

Because human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights we promote attitudes of understanding, co-operation and respect towards various cultures and religions. Learning is valued and serves not only the development of the individual but builds respect for human rights and fosters peace in the world. We value working in partnership with families and fostering a sense of family among students, parents and staff.
We do not discriminate on the grounds of sex, nationality, religion or race. Nor do we deny entry for students with physical or intellectual disabilities, unless we believe the child cannot function within the existing academic programme and facilities.
